Chris Brown sat down with DJ Ebro over at Hot 97 to talk about… a lot. Check out the footage below. Chris discusses things like meeting DJ Ebro, the state of his career, drug use, his relationship with Karrueche, Rihanna, Drake, his tour with Trey Songz, and of course music. I’ll include a few excerpts.
On his drug use: I’m not ashamed about talking about it cause you know a lot of our youth is doing that now thinking it’s the cool thing to do. I don’t knock anybody hustle or how they gotta do their thing, I just think for me, it wasn’t conducive for me.
On writing: I took a lot of influences from people I worked with on my first album and my second album, because I would see how they would work and how they would go in the studio and put certain things together.
On his “demons”: I think my only demon is just the doubt in myself sometimes.. but I think that also makes me great at the same time because if I doubt myself, I don’t always just think everything I’m gone do gone be the best… It always keeps me on my toes.
On getting back with Rihanna: A lot of it was on me trying again to pick up the pieces. I just wanted to make sure it was still there. But at the end of the day I wanted to kinda make amends to her, showing that I could be the man she wanted me to be.
On Michael Jackson: The thing that made me really emotional is I was supposed to go see him the day he died…at the Staples Center. He was rehearsing for This Is It tour and me and Jamie Foxx were ‘posed to actually go to the venue and watch the rehearsal. He wanted to show us the show.
On rapping: I always thought I could be a rapper. I was like ‘ok when I come out, I’m rap and sing,” but at that time it wasn’t acceptable yet.
Ebro was in his feelings the whole interview, but this was much needed. Good interview.
