#BackseatPoetry March 2016 [Part 2] | Monet Black

Screen Shot 2016-03-01 at 7.59.10 PMWelcome back for Part 2 of this month’s #BackseatPoetry feature with Monet Black. Before we get started, go ahead and catch up on the interview we did in Part 1

Today I’ll be sharing her piece titled “Dreams.” Check it out below.

I get it…
you just might be too good to be true
& no I can’t take my eyes off of you
& yes, you are like heaven to touch
you are so heavenly to me
it’s like heaven when you speak
you reek of Godliness to me
& I can’t help but to wonder
why am I so lucky?
I could never fathom as we speak
an angel sitting right before me
but I guess it’s not your fault
you set off fireworks inside my heart
in honor of how beautiful you are
cause you are just that amazing to me
I dont know where you came from
I dont know why you were chosen
to show me another part of my heart
or why my soul shakes, rattles, & rolls
at just the mere thought of your existence
I don’t know
I don’t know
I dont know…
but you make me feel like dancing
like I deserve to be heard from the mountain tops
like I am a voice in this world
damn girl…
you make me feel like I matter
more than just matter
like I occupy an irreplaceable space in your mind
& I aint had that feelin in a long time
so in the meantime….
I sit & wonder…
what it must be like to have hope & faith
the size of a mustard seed
so firmly planted in potential,
& sit back & watch for greatness to grow
I’ve never had someone believe in me…
the way you do….
I guess its true,
you reap what you sow
